We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Co-Ordinator. The post holder will be working a minimum of 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday) and be based at the company’s Millerdale site: BD4 6RX.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract, and we are keen to interview suitable internal candidates as soon as possible.
Role Purpose
The postholder will be required to co-ordinate the technical product launch process and approval systems, providing support and ensuring customer requirements are delivered. They will also devise and implement continual improvement systems ensuring products and quality systems are continually updated & maintained to meet the requirements of both the British Retail Consortium certification & and the site’s customers.
Key Responsibilities
- To manage the site’s raw material specification and approval systems, liaise with the ingredient / packaging suppliers and internal contacts to gather food & packaging information and to interpret this data ensuring compliance with Millerdale standards.
- To maintain up to date supplier details including self-assessment questionnaires and up to date BRC certificates and reports.
- To support the site’s internal Packing Specification system ensuring all required information is available to Production prior to the scheduled first production run.
- To manage the change management tracker – launches.
- To co-ordinate the site’s finished products specifications ensuring they are accurately & continually updated in the standard Millerdale or customer specified format, including web portal systems management – portal alerts
- To support FP Spec ensuring accuracy.
- To be a fully integrated member of the HACCP team, support the site’s HACCP system by carrying out food safety audits as required on both existing and new processing lines and products.
- To support Millerdale’s New Product Development launches through the provision of all the required quality system documents, approval of the technical aspects of pack copy & artwork sign off, ensuring legal labelling requirements are met.
- To manage the site calibration system.
- To order QA consumables and maintain adequate stock levels at all times.
- The management and scheduling of micro and nutritional testing to ensure everything is tested.
- To support the site’s BRC certified Food Safety & Quality System through carrying out internal audits, implementing corrective actions and compiling and issuing monthly internal Quality System reports.
- To carry out continuous improvement projects as detailed by the sites Technical Manager on relevant topics e.g. Food Safety, Allergen Management, Hygiene Improvements, Quality Systems, Process Control, and recipe improvements.
- To support the customer and consumer complaints group systems, including providing monthly reports and identifying trends to enable effective corrective actions to be identified to reduce and/or eliminate the root causes.
- To support the group systems for monthly Key Performance Indicator reports in customer specific formats. Conduct score card population and submission to meet customer requirements.
- To support the implementation, and review where appropriate customer and legislative current and new requirements for site.
- To provide Food Safety & QA support in the multifunctional project teams for the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- To ensure on site nutritional and chemical testing schedules are reviewed and maintained.
- To deputise, in relation to site function for the Quality Manager.
- To co-ordinate the site’s pest control contractors and implement, drive continual improvement through corrective and route cause analysis.
- To manage the site’s calibrations, ensuring adherence and accuracy to scheduling. Liaising with external suppliers where appropriate.
- To provide production and technical support where appropriate e.g. Metal drop investigations / HACCP / Allergens / quality incidents / investigative work / DPA.
- To manage the site’s product testing programs (micro / nutritional / allergens).
- Packaging compliance – To monitor incoming packaging against customer approved PDF to ensure accuracy and compliance for the production team.
- To manage the site’s allergen management system, ensuring adherence to validation and verification schedules, whilst ensuring accuracy against customer COP.

- Food Safety Internal Audits completed.
- Finished product specifications are completed and active.
- Customer scorecards produced accurately & timely.
- Preparation of new technical documents to comply with new product launches timetables.
- Preparation & issuing of monthly Quality System reports.
- Continual improvement project delivery in line with site objectives.
- QMS systems up to date and in line with BRC requirements.
