Our HSE Advisor role is important to us to assist in the management, development, and maintenance of effective and robust HSE and Risk systems covering all activities to ensure safety compliance and risk management against all agreed business priorities.
They will support the Group HSE Business Partner and key members of our management teams to drive our health and safety agenda across all sites, ensuring continual improvement and proactivity.
They will also assist in delivering our environmental agenda in line with group strategy, pursuing industry leading sustainability aspirations to support our CSR agenda.
Critically, they will assist to ensure statutory compliance in accordance with all current legislation and will act as a role model for best practice HS&E practices.
Responsibilities
- Together with key members of our management team the HSE Advisor will assist the Group HSE BP to deliver the health and safety agenda across the group in line with agreed priorities and targets
- They will proactively engage in collaborative health and safety projects across all parts of the business as directed by the Group HSE BP
- Critical to the post holder’s success is providing clear, authoritative advice and guidance on health, safety, environment, and risk to all relevant stakeholders
- Reviewing and auditing health & safety management and continuously improving the policies and procedures in line with best practice and legislative changes
- Provide strategies to plan and organise health, safety and risks and recommending adaptations when necessary
- Maintain the group risk register and complete complex risk assessments, method statements and manage SSOW
- Assist with accident investigations in a timely and thorough manner
- Undertake internal audits and inspections
- To ensure accurate reporting of HSE and risk data and KPI’s to the Group HSE BP
- To work collaboratively on all aspects of H, S, E and risk across all Group sites
- Make recommendations regarding process and procedures to ensure continual development and best practice
- To respond to ad hoc requests and/or take an active role in specific projects as directed by the role’s line manager.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as may from time to time be required by the Company.
Budget/People/Equipment Responsibilities
- They will contribute to CAPEX proposals across all sites
Measuring Performance
- Our HSE Advisor will be instrumental to creating a positive Health and Safety culture across all sites. This will be measured regularly using our engagement surveys (annual and pulse.)
- They will proactively assist our environmental agenda and delivery of targets set under our CSR and ESG agenda
- Individual and department KPI’s will be agreed with the postholder during the annual performance review process and reviewed regularly
- They will behave in a positive way in line with our values, and will act as a role model for best practice in all areas of their responsibility
Must Have Attributes
- Demonstrate a commercial and business partner-led approach to HSE&R
- Have a full in-depth of understanding of all UK and EU health, safety, and environmental legislation
- Demonstrable record of driving HSE&R change within an organisation
- Be an ambassador for best practice and actively work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders
- Be confident to present to peers, providing recommendations on policy and procedures to enable continual improvement
- Qualified to NEBOSH diploma, HNC/HND level or equivalent
- Have a flexible approach to work, able to manage own priorities and workload
- Down to earth style with the ability to get things done
- Excellent IT skills over the MS office suite however specifically email, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Be a positive and results orientated individual who ensures that HSE is at the heart of what we do
- Comfortable with challenge and be able to build effective working relationships to enable delivery of the HSE agenda
- Able to work collaboratively and confidently

- Full UK Driving Licence

- Food Industry Experience
- Graduate member of IOSH (GradIOSH) or equivalent
- NVQ Level 6 in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
- 3-5 years working as an advisor in a similar environment
