Michelle Williams

Human Resources Director

Before joining Symington’s as Head of HR in 2009, Michelle worked in the same position at Pinco 1555 Ltd, a national automotive aftermarket service provider. She has worked across many sectors in HR roles for the past 18 years with particular experience in employee relations, recruitment and retention, training and development and change management.


Michelle’s integral role entails managing the company’s people agenda. She is responsible for all aspects of HR including employee development and performance management and is motivated towards her ultimate aim for happy and engaged colleagues.


“I love working at Symington’s because the enthusiasm and passion that colleagues have for the company is infectious. Everyone is also really friendly and approachable which makes it a pleasure to come to work every day,” said Michelle. “The company also has a really practical approach to work. Rather than tie ourselves up with red tape, we prefer to get on with doing the right things and I believe that’s what we do!”


Outside of work Michelle likes walking and keeping active at the gym – attending at least 2 personal training sessions every week. She also enjoys going to the theatre and spends a lot of time managing the social diary of her teenage daughter.



Emma Robinson

Training and Recruitment Manager

Having graduated in Applied Nutrition from Huddersfield University Emma commenced her career in recruitment joining a national industrial and commercial recruitment agency where she spent 15 years. Having worked agency side for a number of years, the opportunity arose to join ASOS as their in-house Recruitment Manager where she had exposure to recruiting at high volume and across all disciplines.

Emma joined Symington’s in June 2012 on a fixed term contract and was quickly offered a permanent contract to join the HR team.

Out of work, Emma is Mum of two, an official gym addict and is found either playing Hockey or coaching Wakefield U14 Girls.

Glenda Barrow

Human Resources Manager

Glenda joined Symington’s in March 2012 as HR Manager, before joining Symington’s she held a similar position in bathroom Manufacturer Jacuzzi UK. Glenda has worked in HR for the past 15 years all within a manufacturing environment. Glenda studied for her professional qualification at Huddersfield University. Reporting to the HR Director her role is very much operational, supporting Managers across all 6 Symington’s sites.

Out of work Glenda enjoys buying shoes and boots. Weekends away especially the annual girls weekend trip to Spain.
